Your thoughts

I’ve received several beautiful and touching emails from people in response to my “An Anniversary” post, sharing their own experiences with the death of a loved one. Loosing a parent, or a close friend or relative for that matter, has a deeper effect on one’s life than one might think. Nothing can really prepare you for it. Whatever the circumstances, there is always more that could have been said and done. At least that is the way it feels.

In the immediate aftermath, a lot of things are happening, and one can easily get lost in all the practical preparations around the event. But as life resumes all one is left with is grief, confusion, anger and loss. This is the time when supporting family and friends are what’s most needed. Yet, because of our fast-paced lives we are expected to have overcome it all in a matter of weeks. Nothing can be further from the truth.

Thank you for sharing your own stories. Keep doing it. It’s a great source of inspiration and motivation for my continuous journey of writing.
