Valentine morning
Another bright and beautiful day was welcoming me as I woke up this morning. I could feel my tummy making sounds, indicating its need for food. As of yesterday I decided already to kick-start my protein diet, but it will take some time for my body to readjust. There is a simple reason, apart from not wanting to gain more weight – I’m completely fed up when it comes to starch and sugar. I’ve had enough bread and spaghetti to last me a lifetime.
I went downstairs for some nuts, an apple and a couple of eggs, when the phone went off. A minor calamity had occurred and needed to be fixed. I was not happy. Because in these situations, having to wake up my husband, I’m doomed whatever I do. I quickly run through the scenario as if it would have happened to me and decided that it was an emergency and I would have wanted to be alerted if I was him. I woke up my husband that was not really amused and took the call in a huff. I quickly dispatched myself in case the shit hit the fan. Luckily it didn’t, and despite the problem Reinout appeared happy enough when he greeted me downstairs.
10 minutes later he was up in the love nest….with some love presents for me! I opened the card followed by the first present. As I love books, and easily recognize one in wrapping, I went for it. I let out a minor scream of excitement when I saw the cover – 90 years of Vogue Covers – from 1916 to 2006. What a feast for the eyes. I took my time leafing through the pages. Every fashion icon was represented, from Sophia Loren, Princess Diana and Isabella Rossellini, to Cate Blanchett and Kate Moss. It’s a book that will provide much inspiration for my fashion starved mind.
Next present was in a box. I already suspected this might be something in the fragrance department. I opened it and was greeted by Estee Lauder’s Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia. I have to admit, I am not an Estee Lauder fan. The last time I wore something of the kind was Pleasures, when I was still in my teens. As my nose acquired a more refined taste I never went back. BUT I am pleasantly surprised. Very pleasantly surprised. Whilst it’s not a shocker, as the heady and sultry perfumes I normally wear, it’s classic, refined and elegant. Somehow it reminds me of Acqua di Parma’s Iris Nobile (which is based on an entirely different note all together), although the latter is more mature and far more contrived. Nevertheless, I would recommend this perfume to anyone that wants to develop their taste in perfume.
But back to the last events….Reinout was taunting me for my latest blog post. Apparently as he was purchasing the perfume he showed the woman in shop what I had written. “Does she expects diamonds from you? She must be very spoiled!”. Obviously not everyone understood the self directed sarcasm. Well I cannot write for everyone, and the fact that some people might feel the need to react only adds some spice. I’d say “bring it on!!”
A profound message from Reinout
Love the presents!

so no Valentine baby???:) i was so cheering for that..I guess there’s still a chance…the day still has an afternoon and eve ahead:)
reply to this commenthave only bumped into your blog very recently, while searching for information on English on MBR (you were the only place haha) and I have grown to like it quite a lot in just a few days:)

Your Message@Eliku:
Happy Valentines Eliku! How sweet! I must say I’ve been hoping for a Valentine baby too. MJ who will also be the godfather has his birthday today, But it appears not to be!
Please keep me posted on MBR. I will start with it full force in a few weeks, when I have used up my current products. I couldn’t find any product information in English either, but I will certainly write a report on my experience once I have used it for a while.
reply to this commentHi again, I was thinking that the very best thing about not having your baby born on VD is letting her/him have 2 celebrations very close to each other, rather than 2 on 1 day:) if it will be a girl, she’ll probably appreciate it more:)
reply to this commentgoing back to MBR; I have a treatment scheduled this coming tuesday, the women convincing me to try MBR talked so much and so well about these products but had no testers that this propaganda multiplied by fact of me not being able to read in German resulted in MBR being a glorified mysterious treat I can’t wait to finally experience and making me completely intrigued and almost convinced that yes, it will be the miracle solution my skin has been seeking;) I’m pretty sure in the weeks to come you’ll be too busy to think about MBR and it’s efficiency, so most likely it will be me telling you how it went:) instead and I’ll gladly read about the sweet responsibilities of a new baby at home.

But I am as curious as you are. BTW, another product line I heard great reviews about is Natura Bisse. I am not sure what kind of condition your skin is in, but I suffer from some scattered hyperpigementation due to sun damage and small dark marks as left overs from past spots. This product line is suppose to work miracles and be one of the best on the market for these type of problems.
reply to this commentyou are probably right there
