The urban myth of long eyelashes
One’s gotta love the little inventions companies such as L’oreal and Revlon come out with for the female population. As much as I want to believe their unbelievable claims of eternal youth in a gold coated jar, the rational part of my brain disagrees. So when I came across this mascara looking device containing a serum for longer and fuller eye-lashes it seemed like yet another urban myth. Yet I am stupid enough to fall for it, under the pretense that one has to try everything once. And in the search of the holy grail to eternal youth, I decided to give this a shot. The Renewal Lash serum from L’Oreal promises something I never had – long, thick, flirt-proof eyelashes.
Now if this was really going to be true, it would be nothing short of a miracle drug for growing hair. Middle age men would be queueing for slapping on eyelash serum on their ever growing bald heads. But as I haven’t heard that the L’Oreal stock price has gone up dramatically in recent days, this can’t be it. A little bit of research shows that the active ingredients conditions the eyelashes and thus make them fuller in appearance and perhaps not fall out so quickly.
I was prepared to put the product to the test. I used it religiously morning and evening, for about 3 weeks without paying too much attention to any possible results. Until today…as I was getting ready for the day, slapping on the usual mascara I saw something unfamiliar. Long, thick lashes. My heart almost skipped a beat as I couldn’t believe the results. This wasn’t after all an urban myth. And so a little bit of faith was restored in the big cosmetic brands thanks to a small and seemingly insignificant product. Needless to say this will continue to hang around my bathroom sink for the forseable future. And perhaps L’Oreal shares are worth looking into after all…
The picture doesn’t make my eyelashes justice, but believe me the result is there!
