sexy, sultry, steamy salsa

It’s my first salsa lesson after the summer break. As always, not having danced for months, my nerves are mixing with great anticipation. I take a few steps, one two, three…five, six, seven… I count for myself to the beat of the music. I need getting into the rhythm again, but after a few steps decide that I haven’t lost it all.

It’s only moments until I am invited to dance. Fortunately with one who actually has got the rhythm. Some do, some don’t.  I feels great, sexy, alive, like nothing else matters. I watch my teacher, Nucita, as she explains the combination for the evening. She burns for this. You can see that, and I love watching her dance, giving every ounce of life, passion and soul into her dance.

An hour later the lesson is over and I pull together my coat and bag, getting ready to leave. The next group are beginners. You can see…they have been watching us for a good 10 minutes with awe and amazement. Just as I did a few years ago when I started to dance. I knew there and then I wanted to dance like that. I told myself that I was born to dance salsa, long steamy nights in the embrace of strangers. Nothing short of sex on the dancefloor. Or perhaps more its foreplay. The hungry, sex starved, playing with hands, eyes, legs, decollete. My body as a tool, a naked canvas ready to be used.

I rarely dance as much as I would like. My husband doesn’t dance and he is the one person I want to dance with all night. But as I was walking home, I had an idea….our next holiday shall be to Cuba….and there we will dance. Because once you go salsa, you never go back!
