Recharging batteries

Vacation! Finally, we have got a date! August 1st is D-day and we are leaving for the South of France. I can hardly wait. It’s come to a point where I feel I can’t go on much more without having a break. The last days my creativity feels completely zapped. It impacts my work. I’m not as productive as I should be, and my action list, as well as my inbox are spiralling out of control. I feel I have lost the overview and the more I try to shift through the tasks the worse it gets. So I decided to do something contradictory to anything I normally do in situations like these: Take a break!

After a couple of appointments and minor administration I took Sebastian out for a long walk. With my iPod fully charged, I walked for hours through the city centre and beyond. I walked through neighbourhoods I don’t often come to, and the sights that met me triggered memories of past summers in my youth. Of running barefeet through green grass, and making daisychains…

Evening….I’m relaxed. No work today. Instead I’ve been reading, sleeping, walking, thinking… Sometime insights comes when you least expect it. Simple, trivial, yet they fill an importance. I’m off to bed soon. Tonight I shall sleep so well.
