No sleep

It’s been an exhausting night, with very little sleep. I went to be bed rather late, after watching some television whilst emailing in my usual style. I did the last feeding around 2 am before going to bed. I was hoping for a good nights sleep, i.e. around 5 hours, but I should have known that was too much to ask for. Sebastian kept waking up every two hours for another feeding. The last one, sometime around 7, I was so exhausted I fell asleep with him in bed. I woke up to an angry door bell. The neonatal caregiver was here and it was only 8.30 in the morning. I fumbled for my bathrobe and bolted for the door, almost tripping on the cat. My eyesight is next to blind without my contact lenses.

Today here is a new caregiver with us, Jolanda. She is very sweet, and got me some fresh mint tea and breakfast. Still as I write this, my head feels like cotton wool and my hands have a slight shake to them. The breast feeding is taking a lot of energy so regular meals are a definite must.

Today Reinout and I are planning to take Sebastian out for a stroll. I’m planning to get some things for myself. Such as new, practical underwear a la Bridget Jones. I’ve heard a corset can do wonders to your post-pregnancy tummy. We have a trip to Copenhagen coming up in 2 weeks and I am resolute to be back into a decent shape by then.
