New Year Resolutions

Exactly a week after the New Year made it’s entree, I am ready to make my New Year’s Resolutions. It’s not so much about resolutions but about goals. In many ways they are similar to last year. Having said that it doesn’t mean I achieved anything in the last year. If last year was about planning and preparation, this year is about execution. Both on a personal, family and business level. So here’s my list, not in order of importance…

1.    Take OnlineSalsa to the level I have envisioned. It’s an ambitious plan we have, and although the site is not there yet (God I am struggling with this but end of this month, keeping my fingers crossed it should be online).
2.    Become an advanced salsa dancer on1, and start dabbling on2. Sederick, my personal coach, told me that if I practised hard I will be ready for performance in a year. That means 2011 you will see me perform. Yeah!
3.    Good basis in bachata and zouk dance. This means practice every week.
4.    Get my act together and finally loose my last pregnancy weight, and get a killer body! I still can’t get into my jeans from before and that’s sloppy on my behalf. Next week I will start more of a detox and by the end of the week I WILL be 52 kg’s.
5.    Train 5 days a week in the gym. I do it already, so no change, just sticking to it.
6.    Reach my sales goals and objectives for Ex Machina. I have the structure in place now. So it’s down to execution.
7.    Find quality time for my family. It’s difficult with my schedule, so it’s about being disciplined to switch off from work when I’m with Victoria and Sebastian. And spend more time with my husband too. I sometime feel I neglect him.
8.    Finally rest. When there is time to enjoy, seize the moment, instead of pondering on business and work related issues.

Ambitious plan? I don’t know. It’s a typical plan for a slightly manic, neurotic gal like me. ….And lastly, not to forget that the two most important points are the two last ones!

Happy New Year!

Please, have a happy life instead of demand so much from your self. Life is only about being happy, not about achieving goals.

    Your Message@the dentist:
Thanks for your comment and feedback. I can understand where you are coming from. But in this case my happiness is very much connected to my goals. I presume from what you call yourself, that you are a dentist. If so, you must have also set yourself goals to get your grades, get a job you liked and perhaps even set up your own practice. I’m not sure how familiar you are with Maslow’s Pyramid of Motivational Needs. It’s something I do recall from my Psychology course, and it pops up now and then. The highest level of fulfillment is self-actualization. In other words to fulfill your own needs, whether that is to be on top of the world, running a business, exercising your artistic skills or just being a good mum for your kids. Those needs are so different for people. Thus when I set up my goals for this year it’s about change, and results. Through this I will grow, mentally, spiritually, physically, business wise etc.
