Finding joy in the small things
I woke up early this morning; 3 minutes before scheduled alarm time at 6.40. The sun was blending with the white blinds that furnish our bedroom windows. Yesterday felt far away and I was soon reminded that it was Friday, which admittedly set the spirit in high altitudes.
I dressed quickly and headed for the gym. For the past month I haven’t done much of sporting and it’s had an undesired impact on both body and mind. I started off with half an hour cross training whilst watching a mute episode of the Bold and the Beautiful. It brought back memories of 20 years ago. Much hasn’t change I can report.
At home I decided to chip in on the morning household work. Coffee for Reinout, laundry and shower with Sebastian. Sebastian lifted my spirit even further as he was pulling out an arsenal of party tricks right in front of my very eyes. When the shower started to acquire a funky smell, I shouted for Reinout. I had heard of the occasional pooh in the shower and the result was not always the most welcome. Sebastian sees everything as potential toys alternative food, including dog litter and cat food. With great care I picked up two little balls and ran to the toilet, which seat my husband had so graciously lifted.
I suppose Sebastian saw it as the cue to escape and headed himself out of the shower only to land on his back and bounce his head. Friday morning was in full swing….
Some half an hour later two men, one tall and another one infinitely smaller, adorned in the Dutch National football shirt (no 18 to be precise), left the building. Peace descended and I could go back to apply my make-up.
I’m now on the train, somewhat late for work. 3 meetings, 2 of which I have failed to prepare (tisk tisk). But hey… the sun is shining, and TGI Friday!
Sebastian is cheering for Holland today!
