Family asylum
It appears I have a fan club. Well technically speaking consisting of a few guys working for Reinout. It’s their way of keeping track on their boss. Juicy details are being logged to be used at a later more appropriate date. Reinout was in a conference call yesterday, and I happened to walk in…
“Yes, Sebastian is doing really well. And yeah, we are lucky. Sleeps like a log.”
I cut in as it was far from the truth “Honey, you wouldn’t know as you sleep straight through it.”
“This is my wife by the way. She runs a blog where you can find out everything about our, no I mean my life.”
A conversation ensued about the blog and one of Reinout’s colleagues was not late to describe some of the horrific accounts that have been forever recorded in cyber space. At this point I was eavesdropping from the other room as I was doing my administration. There was the hooker incident, the nude picture, the allusions to sexual encounters, the Willem Holleeder look-alike and other criminals that we discussed at the dinner table. Quite a normal family really.
A few minutes later I was back. This time dropping off a questionnaire that we had to fill in about our family. The Dutch authorities like to keep an eye on their citizens. The questions started off as rather normal. Birth weight, our age, the week in which the birth took place etc. Then it started to go towards the slightly more obscure; Did I believe in physical punishment of our children? Had I been punished myself as a child? Did I suffer from any mental related illnesses? Did we have bad arguments in our family, sometimes becoming physical?
I looked confused at Reinout. Shall I answer this truthfully? If so our family will look like an asylum and Sebastian will be taken away by the authorities. So I proceeded to pretty much lie through the whole questionnaire. Like anyone would admit to having mental problems. Do they really think I’m that stupid?

I detest those questionnaires: Christian Democrats want to impose their own morals and beliefs on the rest of the populace. So what if only 20% still go to church? Get over it!
