Expect the unexpected
Things rarely work out as they’ve been planned. And thus I am not in Paris. I’m not even in France but in Haarlem to be precise, waiting for a train that is delayed. Yep so much for glitz and glamour in the fashion capital. So what happened?
Well, Reinout has been suffering from a sore back in the past days, but it got worse. A lot worse. As I was coming out of the shower, doing my best to hurry up as we were about to leave in an hour, I heard the sentence I really didn’t want to hear.
“Honey, I don’t think I can drive to France.”
Well there are two options. Show your sadness and disappointment over such a statement and by doing so trying to coerce the subject into going against his will. I believe that is called emotional blackmail. Or you can take it in your stride, with your chin up and make the best out of it. Albeit a woman, emotional blackmail is not my thing (extortion and racketeering would be though should I have been born a man). So I opted for the latter approach. I called off the appointments and tried to make new ones for next week. The hotels were cancelled and an apologetic email was sent to J. Reinout’s back was obviously in no good condition, so I made an appointment for him at the physiotherapist. All well and done, at 10 am I was exhausted. It was the day my body and mind made peace with eachother and decided that it had enough of long hours and no sleep. So instead of going on to do some work, I did the completely unexpected thing of shutting down my computer and go to sleep. I slept in effect the whole day, until almost 7 in the evening and darkness was falling. When I turned on the phone there were several sms’s. One from Reinout being at the wine bar with MJ. His back had obviously gotten better from the physio.
I joined the guys an hour later for drinks and some snacks. It was my first meal all day…
In the office this morning, revived from a long, long sleep

Expect the unexpected, that’s right!
