Can I have your husband for 20 min?

And so ended our evening…one that started at the winebar sipping champagne and good wine. And after hours of savouring on gourmet food at Stempels, we couldn’t help but venturing around the corner to check out the redlight. It was in full commerce, as busy as the Haarlem redlight ever gets, meaning the occasional single man trawling the red lit cobble stone streets on the hunt for a sexual encounter.
We came across one of the narrow old lanes, now turned into redlight studios, and ventured inside. Even the security gate was wide open and thus pushing a baby along was no problem. The women looked at us curiously, 3 men, a woman and a baby…not the average party of customers. But then again I guess they see all kinds. I continued to take pictures, as fascinated as I am with the underground world of prostitution.

Reinout being the bolder of us, took the lead and within seconds had struck up a conversation with a scantily clad black woman. I kept on taking pictures, which she got very upset about.
“No pictures, no pictures!”, she shouted in broken English, whilst flaying with her hands.
“Take it easy, she’s not taking any pictures”, Reinout was calming the woman down. It worked and her mind turned onto potential business.
“Anyone? 20 min? C’mon guys, I do it good for you.” It was not her evening as MJ and M walked away, leaving Reinout and myself, with little Sebastian. The woman saw her last chance. “Is that your husband? Can I have your husband for 20 minutes?”
It was the most hilarious one-liner to come out of the whole evening. Would any sane woman give up her man for 20 minutes?  Needless to say, this was not something I was about to find out…
