Being Boring?
Mondays can be the best of days and they can be the worst of days. What speaks in their favour is that it’s the beginning of the week. A brand new start, with last weeks disasters well buried and forgotten. They come with a certain degree of curiosity and anticipation. Who knows how this week will end?
On the other side, it’s a new week full of duties, responsibilities and obligations. Where did the weekend go? Two compressed, micro days which is suppose to give you enough time for cleaning, shopping, administration, friends, family, parties and above all else relaxation. The latter is as likely as the notion of a peaceful Sunday, in other words it’s an urban myth! So it’s not so strange we wake up, grumpy and sullen to a new week ahead of us. Yet another week routine, getting dressed, throw our laptop in the briefcase, catch the tube along with half of the city population. It’s dirty, gloomy and it stinks! That’s why I hate Monday mornings.
Lately though, I have begun to love Monday mornings. Emails are dropping in later than normal, and I can quietly sit in bed with my cup of coffee and browse through the morning news. I then submit a blog post and get on with the rest of the day. Ideal! Maternity leave is a great concept. I wonder why we still have a negative birth rate in this country. Haven’t women discovered the true benefits of having kids? Even though it only last for a few weeks before the kid is there, and another infinitely worse routine is initiated. And because of this reason I’m going to make the most of it all.
Along with the usual project related tasks, I’ve been amusing myself with listening to music from the late 80’s and 90’s. Music I haven’t listened to for ages, but is absolutely brilliant! I was a huge fan of gay disco in its heydays. I’m talking about the Pet Shop Boys, Jimmy Somerville and Franky Goes to Hollywood. Then there was George Michael and our own Swedish contribution to fag hag Valhalla – Army of Lovers. Where did they all go?
Here’s a pearl I found…. Being Boring by the Pet Shop Boys…enjoy the rest of your Monday!

Wonder if baby bump’s enjoying the tunes too! Jimmy Sommerville.. how quickly we forget! he’s still at .. touring the UK!
