An unlikely muse
I am truly amazed how life has taken a new path since going on maternity leave. It’s like somehow that block of inspiration has been removed, and creativity has been flowing freely ever since. When I hear other pregnant women being tired and fatigued, spending their mornings and afternoons alike on the sofa watching day time television, it seems far away from my own existence. TV is substituted with Mac, and instead of camping on the coach I am well installed in bed. Meetings and conversations alike are dealt with from the inner sanctum of my boudoir. It sounds frivolous I know, but in fact I believe the greatest of decisions are either made within ones own personal quarters or in nature. Not in cubicles and boardrooms.
My flagging creativity is now just a distant memory. Old environments are replaced with new and so are sources of inspiration. My husband has taken on a new yet rather unlikely role in my life, the role of a muse, driving and inspiring me at the same time. When I hear the word muse I always think of Inès de la Fressange, the once famous muse of Karl Lagerfeld. Or the woman that lend the face to Liberty on the Barricades by Ferdinand Victor Eugène Delacroix, my own long time muse of female virtue and power.
I wonder if I am the muse of Reinout, or if he has some secret woman that fuels his passion for strategic conquests. As I am quite a recent addition to his court, there must be some über muse hiding in the shadows. If there is I have yet to meet her…
