According to Plan…or not

Yesterday was time for a long awaited dinner party. The whole planning started off as two separate dinner parties but as people couldn’t make it got rescheduled, and eventually I got so fed up I fused them together in the hope some old friends would reunite over wine and sushi. I had a feeling something was up but as I was busy I forgot to confirm the party with everyone. All well though as I got two confirmations the night before. On the day one of them cancelled due to not feeling well. As I was walking into town with Reinout and his colleagues for a drink before dinner, Reinout thought of the brilliant idea to check with P if he was actually coming (note we all agreed to this dinner date so not an invention of  my own imagination). P seemed stunned, and even though he had followed the conversation with dates passing by here and there he simply got fed up with all the rescheduling.
OK, that left it down to S and A. Fortunately S was coming and as A knows S, we would just have to have a girly evening (Reinout backed out on the point P was not coming).

I arrived home, at the same time as my Albert Hein delivery was standing outside the door on the verge of leaving. Phew, I hurried the delivery man in together with the grocery and as soon as he left got to the task of securing Sebastian who was wailing by now.

Two minutes later S was ringing the doorbell. Her smile made up for any anxiety about a ruined dinner party. S opened a bottle of wine as I brought Sebastian upstairs. We had a lot of catching up to do so didn’t waste any time. Minutes passed by quickly and at 8 o’clock no sight of A. Left voicemails, S checked her twitter but there was only a pregnant silence.

So a dinner party for 6 turned out to be a rendez-vous for two.
But the cosy girls talk was soon to be interrupted by Reinout and his colleagues. We invited them in having more than enough sushi for everyone. M needed to attend some family affairs though, so I sent him off in the rain with a vintage bottle of red that Reinout had only presented moments earlier. He left with the promise to make amends with his gf, singing in the rain, declaring unconditional love to his one and only girl. I’m still waiting to hear the update :)

And so in the end 6 became 2 which became 5 as D and her husband joined us.
Apparently I had a bit too much to drink (i.e. 3 glasses of wine but I’m on a diet so it hit me harder than usual), and so spilled the beans on one or two things I shouldn’t. Did I tell you we had a huge bust up afterwards? Well we are back on again as I just got a skype message from my husband with an invitation for lunch. Don’t forget to bring the peace pipe honey!

    Your Message@Sanne Roemen:
Hiya! It was a great evening, didn’t quite turn out as expected but great nevertheless. Tried to get in touch with A but without luck. A bit worried I must say :-S
