A classical morning

One of the most wonderful ways to spend your Sunday morning, is in bed with coffee and breakfast, some reading material and listening to classical music, especially opera. I have some favourite pieces that brings tears to my eyes. Turandot’s Non piangere liu by Puccini springs to mind, The Flower Duet from Lakmé, or what’s being played now…. Caruso sung by Pavarotti. Sebastian is sleeping quietly, all so snug and wrapped up like a little bunny. The windows are opened and I can almost feel a faint breeze on my skin. In the more quieter moments of the music the song of birds mixed with the muffled sound of trains slowing down, are penetrating. A car takes off, for but a moment later leave the street in peace again. Someone is sweeping their steps. These are moments I wish I could capture in a box, seal off and open at times when most needed…

Yesterday Reinout went for a haircut at Pierot. He left me off in bed, as our walk had left me completely exhausted. I was meant to have had a manicure, but as usual I had been too optimistic in my assumptions. Instead I spent the best of an hour in bed cuddling up with Sebastian. I was woken up by Reinout entering the door. In fact I had to adjust my eyes because something was not completely right. For the first time since I’ve known him, he was sporting a different haircut. And it looked good! So good in fact, I commented on the very close resemblance to Brad Pitt. Reinout was not equally amused. In his eyes that would make him next to being gay. I never really understood that with men. I would take that as a compliment, but most men don’t. Another universal mystery I’m sure I shall never solve…
